Oompa-Loompa Oats

January 20, 2011

Good morning!

I hope your day is off to a great start.  I feel a little better today but not great.  I’m chugging the tea and water and loading up on the vitamin C.

Yesterday morning was much better since I got to eat my oatmeal in the privacy of my cozy home.

In the mix: 1/4 cup oatmeal heated up on the stove with some water and vanilla almond milk, 1/2 cup canned pumpkin, 1 tsp maple syrup, 1 TB raisins, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp chia seeds, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and 1/2 pumpkin pie spice

When I eat these at the office, I get the strangest looks you’d ever want to see.

One morning, I was eating pumpkin oatmeal and a co-worker actually approached me and my orange bowl of slop oatmeal and said, “Thank you.  I was having a bad day, but after looking at your breakfast, I realize that life could be a lot worse.”

Um…you’re welcome?

Another day, I had overnight oats in a jar at work.  A different co-worker paused at my desk, gave me a look of pity as if he was thinking, “Poor dear.  She cannot afford a bowl”, and he kept on walking while shaking his head.

Yes, my oats are sometimes orange (they’ve also been green, red, and blue).  Yes, I sometimes eat them out of a jar.

As I always say, I’ve never claimed to be normal.

Do you ever get funny looks or comments on your food choices?  How do you respond?

I just ignore it.  They don’t know what they’re missing!

Hope you have a great day!

I ignore it too—OR, I have everyone try the “weird” food and then they’re converts. 😉

I love when people end up literally eating their words! 🙂 Even my husband likes Grass Skirts and Green Monsters now after trying them…despite the fact that they are green. 🙂
