Do the Potty Dance!

January 13, 2011

When I was stuck indoors for for two whole days, I happened to see a commercial for Pull-ups and The Potty Dance on TV.

Oh. my. goodness.  I cannot get that song out of my head!!!  Has anyone seen it?  Apparently, it has been around for awhile, and I am a little late to the Potty Dancing Party.

Here is one version for your dancing pleasure.

Tonight I decided to play with a new cookbook that Michael gave to me for Christmas.

I’m so excited about this book and all of the amazing recipes inside.  Oatmeal Blueberry Banana Pancakes? Quinoa Banana Apple Muffins?  Balsamic Roasted Beets? Whoo to the hoo!

Since I plan out our meals one week in advance (more on that in the very near future) and was already set to make Baked Dijon Salmon, I just decided to make some simple salad dressing.

I absolutely love making homemade salad dressing.

Making dressing at home is a great option if you’re concerned about the artificial ingredients in the store bought variety.  You know exactly what is going into it when you make it at home!

You can also tweak your traditional favorites to suit your tastes.

Michael often asks me to create healthier versions of his favorites, such as Blue Cheese and Thousand Island.  And I always welcome the challenge!

Balsamic Maple Dijon Dressing

3 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 Tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1 Tablespoon maple syrup
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 fresh ground pepper

Place all ingredients into a small jar with a tight fitting lid and shake well. Dress salad just before serving.

Tip: Doing the Potty Dance while holding the jar is an excellent way to mix up the dressing.  In fact, it is critical.

The Potty Dance.  It’s not just for kids.  😉

Do you ever make your own dressing, or do you prefer bottled?

The Potty Dance song NEVER leaves my head. The sad part is I hear it so much I find myself mindlessly singing it. Bad, I know.

I do the same thing! So, we’re both bad. 🙂 In fact, I was dancing to it in the kitchen last night. 🙂

Quinoa Banana Apple Muffins! Yummy… I can’t wait for an update on how those taste.

I definitely prefer to make my own salad dressings, too! I make a balsamic dressing that’s very similar, and it’s my husband’s favorite– a big feat, considering he hates almost ALL dressings! I’m always on the lookout for new dressing recipes to spice up our salads!

…and now the Potty Dance song is stuck in my head. Thanks a lot. 😉

You’re welcome! Haha. 🙂 I love your blog, by the way. You got me into Physique 57, and I love it SO much! I am going to do a review of it soon on this blog. 🙂
